Bookish Thoughts and Feels #1: My Love of Books

Hi folks!

I just thought of sharing with you guys my love of books.

The current state of my bookshelves
-o-

I can't really remember the title of the book I first read. I do know, however, that I started with reading fairy tales and other children's short stories.

I think what really got me into reading was when I read Nicholas Sparks' A Walk to Remember back in high school. That book left me in tears. After that, I read his other books as well. I then started reading fan fictions and books by other authors like Paulo Coelho, Bob Ong (a Filipino author), and of course, JK Rowling.

I wasn't an avid reader in high school, but I really enjoyed my reading experience. In college, I started devouring books. I was not collecting physical copies then. I was content with ebooks. In 2012, I think, I started buying physical copies. I used to only buy books that I really wanted to read, but then came Warehouse Sales, and so was my hoarding habit. I would read the blurb, and if I liked the book I would put it in my basket. Well, it's not really hoarding because I would only buy five or so at a time, and I didn't (still don't) have much money for books. But my TBR pile is growing nevertheless.

Currently, I am known as a book lover (I believe... Haha!). I read books and review them. I love everything about books, from deciding what to read or what to buy, to reading them, to thinking and talking about them. I love the feel of books, the smell of papers, the sight of them in bookstores. I even love looking at other people's bookshelves on Tumblr. Haha! Books give me happy feelings.

When I read books, it's like I am transported to another world and another time in a different person. I get to experience things I wouldn't experience in the real world. I get to feel things, and learn a lot from the circumstances of the characters. Reading is indeed a wonderful experience.

I love to share my love of books through this blog. And perhaps someday, I would be able to share it through having my own library/ bookstore. Someday. :)

  1. I also read A Walk to Remember in high school! But, my first book of Nicholas Sparks was The Lucky One. It was made into a film long time ago and Zac Efron was in it! xD I still have a crush on him. Most of my earliest books was by Enid Blyton. I still remember the Faraway Tree. I must have read it about 10 times. I remember borrowing books every day in middle school. I can finish a thick book in like a day. I have to thank my elementary school teacher for introducing me to books. Even back then, I remember, I always pick the thickest books so I can read longer and more. I watch before reading Harry Potter. I remember watching the first 3 movies when I was a kid and I didn't understand a single thing they were saying. English is not my first language and their British accent was not helping! xD
hahah I think every book lovers dreamed of having their own private library. :D

    1. Wow! You started really early! :) I've read The Lucky One, and I loved that book too. I haven't watched the movie though. Actually, the only Nicholas Sparks movies I watched were A Walk to Remember, The Notebook and The Last Song. :)

I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone when I was in Grade 5/6. I don't think I would understand the movie as well had I not read the book first. :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :)

Hahah the only movie of his that I've watched is A Walk to Remember and The Notebook. I love both.
Hahah I always picked Harry Potter movies when my dad ask me what movies I wanted to watch much to my brother's dismay because they were stuck watching it with me. I must have picked Harry Potter a dozen times. xD
      Welcome! :)
